I love my EV,s just trying to provide some facts. I own two (2) and will probably buy another one. Not sure who I would be saving face too.

What hole am I in and what would be digging it deeper?
Clearly a rational discussion is not possible. You've gotten all the attention that you're going to get from me. You'll have to fulfill that need elsewhere. Welcome to the Ignore list, chucklehead.

But what if we called that handout a subsidy? How would feel then? Better?
You already knew the answer.

I fled Europe, and then California, to get away from that kind of crap, but it's spreading. Ironically, it seems that when it comes to the "green" crap (and some other things), Europe has seen the light and is backpedaling on the issues.

Would've never thought it possible, but if the USA keeps going the way it is now I may move back to Europe.

We might go to where the illegals are coming from.

There's a lot of money being handed out (with little accountability) for "green" applications.

That'd be far easier in many ways, but I couldn't deal with the heat.

Iceland could be interesting, but...they apparently only have one nice twisty road, and it has a low speed limit.

Don't they have weekly volcanoes?

If I accepted some form of handouts, I would be very quiet about it.

It'd be bad enough that my pride and conscience would bug me big time.
That is what you are not seeing, I got to keep more of my money, no handout or subsidy from the State was provided.

They do. Like Hawaii, the whole place is still growing thanks to the volcanoes. And they provide heating for much of the population, through hot water, not the lava.

You don't like gators. I don't like volcanoes.

I have no problem with keeping more of my money, but prefer to do it by being self sufficient - fixing and building things myself, for example, instead of paying others.

Or. like earlier this week, getting nearly $10K off on a trailer I ordered. Technically I will affect the state a bit since it'll get a little less money when I go to register the trailer, but it was in no way a mandate or any kind of government involvement that made the price lower. I was strictly my negotiations with the dealer.

That's far from sucking the government tit.

So reducing your tax liability is sucking from the government tit? Please tell Warren Buffett that.

Are you going to let me know what you see in that photo you attached? I am curious.

Agreed. I bought my '20 outside the state I live in.

Haven't bought a vehicle within the state for a long time. Sometimes they've been only 300 miles away, other times 1,300+.

This trailer was some $8K cheaper than the local dealer (150 miles from here) wanted and it will be a long day to go get it 800 miles from here, but worth it.

Might become a 2-day trip if it takes more than a few hours at the dealer. I'll play it by ear, and stock up on 5-hour Energy beforehand.

Personally, a tax break is not going to make me want one. In the other hand, I am happy to hear Cole’s feelings about his EV’s. I believe he is trying to give us some facts and figures that we all wonder about and wouldn’t knock him for that. It’s not going to sway me but it seems to work for him. He is definitely convinced. More power to him.

These cars are like battery tools & phones
Throw them away when the battery starts dying
There would be little to no resale value
There is a reason manufacturers are reluctant to list battery replacement costs

Quote

Lexus just revealed that a replacement for the battery in its electric SUV is $43,476 plus tax and install (installation will be thousands $$$). Thats more then half the price of the car, which retails for $82,500.
Battery dies, throw away the car. What a waste...

There is a standard and a testing procedure. If the battery loses more than 10 or 20% of capacity it fails and gets replaced.
What a waste...

Gators are a high protein sustainable food source. (tastes like chicken?)
