First one did have a warranty, the second didn’t…there was a massive difference in the final bids likely due to just that one fact.
Comparing those bids to the actual MSRP and the fact they didn’t hit their reserve really demonstrates that those dealers significantly overestimated demand (and consequently, value) and their unabashed greed. Well aware of exactly what capitalism is but the market has spoken and these 2 auctions will definitely have an effect on other going forward.
I agree that these cars can give foreign exotic/hyper cars fits, with the right ass in the seat of course…but it was WAY more of a factor when they barely squeaked 6-figures. When a buddy of mine initially spec’d his Z06 it was sub-$140K nicely optioned, but that same car now with a $50K, at least, increase is just that much less impressive, especially when you consider the fact that some of their early and spectacular catastrophic failures are less than anecdotal.
