Honestly….. Unless you are very serious about racing and are making or are planning to make a ton of power, there’s a lot of stuff that will get results for a lot less money. When I did mine, there wasn’t the aftermarket hp90 build options there are today. I was making way past what the stock trans could reliably take back then and knew I was going after more, so the 400 was a choice at that time. Thing is…. There’s a lot more to it than just the trans. Flexplate, Converter, Crossmember, Shifter, Driveshaft, Computer Mods and Tuning. You’re looking at over $15k for a 1200whp rated conversion. Thats too much because it’s not necessary for a mid eight second car now. One of the high end hp90’s will get the job done for a lot less. If you decide to go all out and make a seven second race car out of it (now you should go with the 400) you should do it right and go with the full race (DragPak) level combination. Now you’re talking Race Car Money that requires another level commitment.
