Had hood wrapped in satin black. They did a great job…matches the rear spoiler perfectly.

Replaced the rubber coupler from the air box to ther throttle body .
Due to the 105mm throttle body and the FI spacers the rubber coupler that came in the kit looked like a 5 lbs cat in a 2 lbs bag .
This fits much smoother .

The transplant arrived at the rest home, and we like it, all the offending shit has been removed now, the patient continues to be supported by four steel posts, but we are very optimistic now concerning a recovery in the next couple of weeks.

Springs look stout. What's open and closed psi compared to stock?
Stock springs 115 lbs seat load at 2.051”, 337 lbs open at 1.480” Rate 389
New springs 136 lbs seat at 1.800, 412 lbs at 1.170 Rate 438
Interestingly the new springs weigh only about 1/2 the weight of stock springs 114g stock 62g new, but retainers are 3 grams heavier then stock 9g verse 12g new.
I’ll be testing all the old springs at some point and see if they weakened and if their even to one another or not both at the seat and open.
New springs good for .630 lift.

That would look amazing.
Then you would need to do it to the DSRT.

One done one to go. Takes FOREVER when you measure every freaking thing, check everything for straightness, polish and clean the valves and pockets but that MMT from octane booster just had to go. Thank God my cats going to be a vegetarian from now on. 25870A2B-1894-40DC-B478-0BE49FB706FB.jpeg 7BCA3FDF-82CA-4120-B4F4-6392EEEDAC69.jpeg D47FFB01-0D37-4BCB-A8AC-E3FB336DF662.jpeg BC3F4750-331C-4354-BBD3-13C126876FA6.jpeg 5489D2E2-8DA9-4E4D-A0C8-B5C785C8192A.jpeg 0B49BFCE-C62D-4064-A9A8-E5FCDA102868.jpeg CB8A7C4C-B2D1-401D-8E51-385737CBEEC6.jpeg

Man... brings back memories, from when I did cam and heads, on my 6.1. New PSI springs, hand lapped the valves, deep cleaned everything, tested and shimmed every spring... loads of work. Worth the effort.

Nice job and thanks for the updates!

Just so I don't say something stupid, in this last image, the close up of the valve and the seat, what stage of processing are you at? What are you showing here?

Just got back to this thread. On earlier various post that you put up about the MMT buildup and considerations, I really didn't think it was a big deal BUT on that 3'rd picture down from top with the two exhaust valves side by side you can see MMT deposits on the SEAT. Now that can lead to hot spots and buildup a flame could travel through and burnt valves, plus at the least, the loss of compression from 'burping' through dirty seat with enough buildup. I thought it was just a covering of the chamber and valve surfaces and an aesthetic issue, that's why I was thinking no big deal. But now...I think I'm off the additive. EXCELLENT info and photos as usual.

You are Absolutely correct, the biggest detriment here is/was the MMT on the valve seats, it’s why I posted such pictures. I won’t be using octane boosting additives when spraying on my Capri any longer either. I found I can get 98 octane Sunoco Unleaded gasoline at Pocono which is only 45 minutes away so I’ll be visiting there here and there with 5 gallon VP cans for good fuel for it. The cat will drink nothing but E85 now so bye bye MMT based additives in my world as well, seeing the valve seats “sealed” the deal there. It’s showing the lapped seat area on the valve and in the head cleaned of MMT deposits. The grey colored areas on valve and seat are the freshly lapped areas

It appears as though there are some hard carbon spots remaining in the contact area on the valve?

3oclock position?

Their actually divots in the seat area created by thicker spots of build up that impressed themselves into the softer then the seat valve. They don’t span the seal face so they won’t create any sealing issues, they will fill in with carbon and become smooth again. Lapping could have continued until they where removed but that would have taken more material off the valve them wanted and was unnecessary to do.

Most everyone cleaned up perfectly and looked like this one,
F35BF429-48AB-4F4E-98F5-C7B24280412D.jpeg
that one was picked to show the extreme damage MMT can cause.
Good eye!!

Released from the rest home after one month and a day; back to the wild and my hands. Complete recovery, a real engine break-in is in progress, warranty continues ;) Give me a couple weeks and I tell ya if it runs any different. I know the exhaust is a bunch more quiet with new cats.
