Bandimere Speedway (Thunder Mountain) Closing.

Damn, looks like Bandimere Speedway, located in Morrison Colorado, will be closing at the end of this year. Been here for 65 years hosting such events as the Mile High Nationals, Rocky Mountain Race Week, misc. Car Shows as well as a place for us hobbyists to regularly test & tune. It will sorely be missed. Personally, I blame those effing developers for building tons of new homes close to the strip.

That sucks. I have made over 500 passes down that track. It looked like it was going to close back in 1988 when the highway went through but they dug into the mountain and turned it into what it is today. I have wanted to go there again and now may have to make it there this year

There is ample land north and east of Denver would probably be an improvement better conditions and easier to get to. I do appreciate the nostalgia although I haven't gone to a test and tune in years because of the crowds and traffic to get there.

Yep, would be cool to have both tracks near each other but is unfortunately a longer drive than most would care to do I think. Can’t imagine anyone would have the $$ or ambition to build a new strip equal to Bandi with todays costs. Still have Pueblo but meh, that strip doesn’t excite me much and still a long haul for most.

Sometimes I forget how fortunate I have it. 131 is 25 minutes away, mid-michigan is hour 15 minutes away and Milan under 2 hours so I have choices. I would guess I lived less the 30 minutes away from Bandimere when I was in Denver
