For 18 inch wheel what's the lightest? Race classes seem to be changing to allow non dot fronts and my m&h fronts are heavy.

Tire, I already have 18" Dark Star wheels that are pretty light.

Your m&h bias ply tires are heavy? These are 16 lbs each.
M&H Racemaster Bias Ply DOT 28/4.5R18 Front Runner Drag Tire.
My ET street fronts are light, but over loaded

I'm curious about mixing bias ply and radial tires? That used to be a no go?

I didn’t like the M&H for stopping or turning. Flimsy feeling sidewall and the wheel is exposed to impact on the rim with the way the bead/sidewall is with those. I like the Hoosiers for 18” wheels but I’m running the M/T Fronts on a 17” wheel now (lighter). The Hoosiers are commonly used on fast Hellcats with a 18” wheel. Jegs says 12 lbs. We use them on the blue car and it’s 175mph in the 1/4.

my wheels were mixed biased on the front for my pass last week. It was pretty smooth. Really the lightest front is the Hoosier on a 17. The new Mickey Thompson front radials are pretty nice. I had two sets of m&h tires split on me and I won’t run them anymore.

I just checked. My M/T Fronts (27.5” tall) are 12 lbs. Billet Specialties wheels are 10 lbs. So… 22 lbs each side for the wheel/tire combo. IMG_2996.jpeg IMG_2859.jpeg

With your brakes would 15's be lighter?
In this case the tire is heavier than the wheel so more tire and less wheel probably wouldn’t be lighter. I do not like the larger sidewall on frontrunners.
