Track Days - Where and when?

Everyone, Happy New Year! Let’s get planning early!

I have about ten months in calendars printed out for this year in front of me. I don’t know about all of you, but I still work and have a fairly aggressive travel schedule. So I am trying to plan ahead. I have trailer and will travel beyond MN!

I figured we could get this first thread started for everyone to post up potential track days with the tracks near you that could be considered by others for travel so together we can make Dodge proud.

After post up and idea sharing, then each potential track day could advance to its own thread, much like @TrackDay posted below as he traveled around last season.

I’ll start. One of the tracks most advantageous to our handicap is the BIR Long Course. It has ten turns in over 3 miles with some of them being high radius sweepers with one even containing a banked surface! The Brainerd Performance School has shown several MONDAYS where they will mix the technical short course with the long course for a day. There are other groups that rent the full course (Corvette Club, Porsche group, other significant weekend events), but I don’t have their dates yet, so this first set of dates are just the BIR Performance School dates of combo tracks.

I will say I will do 2-3 of these depending on if we get others to join. I am in for May 4th for starters.

I am considering March 14-15, but also 28-29. Thinking out loud 28-29 is better. Also their registration is up for 28-29, and not 14-15 yet. Like I told SAD maybe the omen is to plan the later March weekend? @sad and I are talking about it. Two days of track makes it worth it for me. Looks like a pretty easy day trip from here, given that Mother Nature don't throw in a different idea.

I actually thought I was the only crazy person out there. My wife looks at my spreadsheet and just shakes her head. Every time I see a TNT or a major event...it goes on the calendar.

Red/Bold/Highlights....we planning on going and racing or watching.

My list so far is fairly general:

Brainerd Donny with likely both the Corvette and PCA. Likely the Comp Course with 1 of the 2 MAP events.
Road America with Dave Murry in Sept, possibly also with the Shelby club early summer
Indy with the PCA in August

I'm using some vacation time going to Daytona and Orlando this week and I'll use some to do some events with my son this year, so my travel will be limited. Indy is the only one I can afford to do that is more than a 3 day weekend.

MVP track time is at Road America on June 6-7. They use the Kink ,unlike the RA people. I did a weekend with them last October at RA. They ran a good Track day and managed to fit 6 sessions each day for each group.
Road America itself has track days on 5/21, 6/22, 8/24, and10/15

Yeh, I hated the slow chicane at Road America with the track day run by the track. I'm definitely trying to run the Kink this time.

Okay, you guys school me. I know which turn is the Kink etc. but do these MVP people run it in a different configuration or counterclockwise? Help me out. Sometime soon I need to make some commitments and plans, I want at least one trip to RA this summer, and I am ready to plan it now, especially if some other members are also going over.

@TrackDay unofficially June 1 will be the long configuration for the Vette Club, I am awaiting a phone call/confirmation on that. I'll post back here when confirmed.

@sad I am about ready to pull the trigger on the late March weekend at Hallett. Are you in?

Dude, I was going to have you try rights and lefts, but if I needed to reciprocate and drag race you, it would have looked like a Prius against your Hellcat. I may try a test and tune night with my new big Cup 2's. But let me see just how sticky they are from a dig first when warmed up.

If one of us would at least loan you four good wheels/tires it is pretty amazing. Problem is then you need better brakes...bushings...adjustments...and on and on.
