I was at the 2005 Mustang press day in Flat Rock, MI. They gave us a tour and there were some cars covered. You could tell they were convertibles and they were not to debut it until a later date (may have been the Super Bowl since there was commercial of it driving around in the winter) As we were leaving there was one driving right next to us out the front gate I wasn't driving and started taking pics of it

I guess crazier things have happened. It's just unfathomable, with all the hoopla and all the teaser videos surrounding the car, that they would have it out, prior to the reveal.

I imagine they're going to go down swinging. I can't imagine they would bring the weak sauce for the final edition.

I'm sure you're right. And I did not really expect anything dramatically new or ground breaking aero or exterior wise (does it really make sense from a cost perspective?) but I was kind of hoping to "wow" when I saw it, and I don't (I'm not saying it's ugly, just sort of unfinished to me - certainly not 150 to 200K or whatever to me). Where they can kick that can hard is in the raw performance specs and they should.

I'm with you, there. I was hoping for some type of aesthetic enhancement, but it's probably not realistic. It's all going into the drivetrain, I think. I'm expecting that they didn't show all of their cards and that the actual reveal car may hold a few surprises.
Everyone and their brother has an opinion, however, we will find out, shortly.
