I was in contact with Jon of Sipple's Speed and Performance asking about the Demon170 Transmission. He told me he had one that he was going to check out for his R&D and will be making a post on FB.

"Got our first Demon 170 transmission in for a Max Effort upgrade!! Something worth noting on this unit as opposed to the other HP90s is the output flange is much larger than the old flange. I’m pretty sure this flange is exclusive to the 170 only. For those thinking about upgrading the driveshaft to the 170 unit make sure you can get the flange from MoPar or it will not bolt up. With this larger flange on the trans end the diff side may also have a larger flange as well. I do not have the car here to check on that so be aware of that possibility also. The more you know!

I’ve been wondering just how much extra beef has been put into the new Demons HP90 with the added torque HP input. I am not about to rip into my new 170 this early into the game just to find out. Thank god there are people who aren’t bashful and are pioneering Trailblazers. Willing to bet there will be more difference found. probably clutch packings higher Hydrolic pressures along with the revamped trans brake and trans tune.Thanks for sharing Linda.

Welcome It's basically the same as the Redye Trans. I think you are correct on the torque input, it is maxed out on power.
One of the main changes is the output Flange is larger for the Driveshaft.

It will be interesting to see a Demon170 driveshaft.

So far according to Sipple he has found no major internal differences and would still rate the max reliable power as exactly what they're sending thru it.

Aside from the output flange the only differences so far are in the tuning where almost all of the mentioned potential differences are controlled.

Sooo they’re overfilled like everyone does with the regular 8hp90?
