I'll check out the MT Street Front - I figured they'd be heavier. The M&H is listed as 22lbs so that's the number I'm trying to beat. They've worked fine but most of my friends went to the Hoosier.

The radial m&h may be 22 lbs but not the bias ply. My 18" f14s are 18-19 lbs which would put the m&h 15-16 lbs

I know your current 18" fronts are 38 lbs. A 17" forgestar f14 with the hoosier would be 28 lbs so a 20 lb weight difference. If you want to spend more I seen the hoosier billet specialties at 25 lbs. I spent a lot time looking at different setups and cost and the forgestar seems to be the best deal cost/weight and I like the looks of them. I'm right around $1000 for my new setup. I saved over $200 during black friday

I'm not looking to get new wheels, just lightest tire possible. The bias play M&H says 22lbs but I'll weigh mine when they're dis-mounted and we'll know for sure going forward. I'll look and see if I can find someone that weighed one as well. That does sound heavier than I'd expect.

Edit: Just found some reports of 28x4.5-18 16lbs for M&H.

Edit2: Just found Hoosier 28x4.5-18 weighed 11.6lbs.

MT ET Street Front says 18lbs for a 28x6 on their site.

I hear there are some vaporware front brake rotors that can pull another 30lbs off of the front too...

Good luck finding a set...

Gimme a rotor and a drill. How light do you want it?

  • Cost less than CF
  • More durable than CF
  • Same or less mass than CF (~16lbs w/ hat)
  • Less time to produce than CF
  • Dramatically less wear than CI, ideally lifetime durability under "normal" performance driving conditions
  • Thermal mass and coefficient sufficient for a 20min session at Brainerd (long course), also for 3 * 5min cycles of 200+mph to <30mph
  • Pass all relevant safety standards, legal and assumed.
  • And some other stuff too...

I've tried to find as much information as I can on the weights of these tires and wheels.

@vortecd something's not adding up somewhere maybe you can help. Your Forgestar F14 in 18x5 with a M&H 28x4.5 Racemaster tire weighs 34lbs? If the tire is 16lbs that would make your wheel 18lbs. However on Forgestars website they show a 18x9.5 weighing 17.6lbs so I'm surprised a larger wheel weighs less if that's correct. Also the Race Star 92 that I run claim to be 18lbs but with the same M&H 28x4.5 Racemaster tire mine weigh 38lbs. Where are the 4lbs coming from? Maybe my Race Star 92 wheels weigh 22lbs but that 25% more than all quoted weights I've seen. What front tire are you putting on the 17s? I don't know what a MT radial is.

I'm kicking myself for not weighing those wheels when I got them. Lesson learned.

This would eat at me and I would find myself down at the tire shop having them dismounted just so I could weigh them on my 1/100th lb scale.

They'll for sure get weighed when I replace the tires lol.

I'm trying to determine cost vs benefit. I can for sure shave 5lbs per tire going with the Hoosiers assuming the M&H are in fact 16. I'd hoped a bit more.

So I started looking at the weight of the wheels and if they're 18lbs as advertised then it's not worth changing to anything else due to cost vs how much weight can be shaved. The lightest I've found period at almost $1000 per wheel is 14lbs. If I can shave 5lbs per wheel and spend a couple hundred bucks a wheel I'd consider it, but I don't think that's gonna be the case.

Anyone need some Weld S71 17x10 wheels with almost new 305/45 MT ET Rs? I have those from my Hellcat and need to sell them. I figure I'll put them out front of my pit area with a for sale sign on them next spring.
