Prices have gotten ridiculous and very little difference in what's actually in the car so no justification for the increase. 2015 was $59k remember 🤔

Oh my shop built 5 years ago has a floor drain. It was a $50 upgrade recommend by the builder.

That's dirt cheap for a drain. Where does it run to?

Drain is connected to corrugated pipe and runs out the back of the shop.

Floor drains...

We're not allowed to have them either...

But...here in our development our sewer and storm tie together at the street...

So tell me what the difference is whether the crap off of my car runs down the driveway and then the curb to the storm drain, or if I were to have a garage drain that led to the same spot?

When you figure out the why's and how, let me know.

Here the storm drains go to retention ponds.

The regular sewer combines w the storm drains? You sure? That is generally a no no bc flooding results in raw sewage in the streets.

I still don't understand it

All drains ended up in one spot, storm, French, sewer.

We did get flooding conditions in 2013, but no backups.

All was fine?

Actually, no you don't ;) Raining here now + sun is out - will be humid AAF for the rest of the day now

You'll adjust to it within 5-8 years...
Been here since '88 and haven't fully adjusted yet - you can take the boy outta the north, but ya can't take the north outta the boy

Maybe the connection is more sophisticated and includes back flow preventers, no air accessible mixing g, gas traps, etc....

I've been contemplating the absurdity of this given the challenge in the thread.

My position/statement comes from watching the contractor connecting pipes and a conversation with the GC during the final walk thru. My statement parallels his statement about all drains in the house going to one spot and what I saw.

Maybe he misspoke and I misinterpreted what I saw??

It is rather rural here, so maybe that's the logic?

Sewer/storm connection aside, I'm positive about the French drain and Storm, so my statement about garage drain and street gutter still holds.

My garage runoff ends up in the Storm collection regardless, with or without a garage drain.
