The Ramcharger is the only "EV" I would be interested in at all
Still wish there was some sort of mechanical connection between the drivetrain and the gas engine in case of emergencies.
I think this would be the preferred option, but doesn't this approach make it a form of hybrid... I am not 100% clear on the subtle differences of hybrid vehicles (series vs parallel) but the combination of gas and electric sounds like a much better option for those that may want to drive longer distances. I would consider this to be a much better fit for most consumers.
I have a friend that commutes in a Toyota Prius and the hybrid setup gives him very good efficiency - around 50 MPG in normal driving (around town) along with good acceleration. I would have expected the automotive world to go this path, rather than jumping to full electric, but I would also expect that to be the natural evolution of transportation and not something pushed by politicians with their hands in our pockets...
