@DRAGRCR, how are you liking the 315/55r17 mickeys? I’ve been thinking of switching to them over my 315/50s. Do you have any more pics of them on the car? I’ve read they should be about an inch taller than the 315/50s?

And compete with Cole? No way.

Plus that opens up another can of worms and rules and standards that people will find reasons to critisize. I could give you a few examples.......

The cars are delivered with extra Motor Oil in the crankcase. Can I drain this out? What if I change the oil and only put 6 quarts back in the engine?

What if my front tires are shaved down to the wear bars? What if my Back Tires are bald? What if the car was delivered with the Floor Matt still in the plastic bag in the trunk. Can I leave it back there? What if I pump the front tires up to 50 PSI? 60 PSI? What if I glue the back Tires to the rims to prevent them from moving on the rims? Some say this helps the 60 foot but I think that is bullcrap.

Then one member insists we post a copy of our PCM Calibration. You do realize that just doing this will void your warranty. Who is going to compensate me for this?

Nobody is happy. I think I will just do it my way. Just took the car in for a new Driveshaft. It was replaced with no questions asked and I was put in touch with the lead Engineer on the Demon 170 Development (not Jim Wilder). She oversaw everything.
Welcome to racing.
There will always be bitching and crying.
There will also be pushing of boundaries.

List rules and the smart ones will find stuff they can exploit that is not listed.

The other big difference is DA and barometer. Like you said being in Colorado you will always have to go elsewhere to run good numbers. Houston is gone now but it wasn't uncommon for them to get -1000 da or better during the winter months where you can go out and figure the car out more. The best thing about legions is everyone is at the same track same time
100% Legions in my future. If work plays out as I hope Jan 2025 is a real possibility. So far the stars have not been able to align both family ad work that timeframe. I expect changes soon.

They are 1.1" taller.
They are 3 pounds heavier, I think.
Wilder said they tested them and the car was slower. I agree. In higher DA with killer prep the shorter tire will be faster.
They will damage the car.
I like them a lot. In fact I may never run the shorter tire again.
They are NOT a cure all. You still need amazing prep and knowledge and skill.
Example, I made 18 passes in Bakersfield on a T&T Weekend. I could never drop the hammer. Not even close.

It would be nice to see a lot of them show up but not getting my hopes up. Just post times and DA from different tracks and we can interpolate…

Curious, how will they damage the car?

21 PSI and you can zoom in and see that they have not moved much. I think 2" total in 10 passes. The other white paint mark is the light spot of the tire (where the weight goes).

Yeah 315/55R17 tires cause damage?
That thing has some mad wrinkle...either too much bite or too much rub on the hit?

Smokey Yunick did an 11-foot two-inch diameter fuel line that held 5 gallons.

Share your wisdom @DRAGRCR , I’m contemplating getting these (need a new set of radials) but want to know how they damage the car and if it’s worth it

Yes, the comment about damaging the car caught my attention also.

I imagine it’s traction or wheel hop from that specific setup that may have cost him a driveshaft. Not sure what other damage has been reported. I can’t imagine rubbing in the wheel well, but I suppose that’s possible too.
