I hang out @ the local cigar parlor...with Armstrong Armory gun shop in the same building....we have a regular crew of about 35 or so guys that hang out...earlier today there was a group of about 15 guys hangin out..we were discussing how to tell a liberal from a conservative...it was light hearted...it was determined if you drove a Subaru you were likely liberal..a big P/U..conservative..if you liked football/baseball...conservative..soccer...liberal..if you drank coffee ,,,conservative..tea ..liberal...you get the picture...one guy said if you have a flag in your front yard..yer conservative....I piped up..what's a flag got to do with yer political point of view...he replied all the Trumpers have flags in their yard....I said no ...all AMERICANS have flags in their front yards...things heated up a bit and some moved on...he said they no longer say the pledge of allegiance in schools for a reason...(later found out he was retired school teacher...)...he said the pledge inhibits multiculturism in schools...I told him this is AMERICA..and that's the AMERICAN flag...for ALL AMERICANS...regardless of political ideology or affiliation...or ethnic back round...he said ..well you know what I mean...I said no..I'm not sure I do...I'm not really sure your an American....I wasn't gonna let it go any further...I made my point...thought it funny as he was walkin out he said to one of the guys...that guy's an A Hole....my buddy said..naw..he's just an American....we all got our beliefs...opinions..and political views...but make no mistake...if your an American that's YOUR flag...now ACT like it..

Thanks. I was an old-school school teacher. It’s embarrassing to say I was these days. Too many blue-haired libtards in the business nowadays. I’m sure there are a few good ones left though.

Funny thing about this encounter...It was never really that heated...though I know he felt I was being antagonistic...all I wanted him to do...was realize just what the flag stands for..it's not TRUMPS flag..or BIDENS...it;s AMERICA'S flag...(always has been)...alotta lives lost..blood shed..and countless sacrifice of service men and women..and the American public to insure we ALL can live in freedom in the greatest country on earth...I know you get it... I get it...as do just about all of us on here...sad thing he walked out thinking I was an ass hole...I didn't even make a dent...I don't get it

I started teaching in ‘78. Retired in ‘13. My school still did a school-wide recitation of the Pledge every morning until the year i retired. Students were not required to stand and participate, but only one or two would sit it out. District has gone downhill since.

I just can't believe that mindset....and that anybody was powerless..or refused to address the issue...and now just look what we have in our schools today...and through it all...even in hindsight...we still can't seem to figure it out

I clearly remember being annoyed with the Pledge when I was in 2nd grade, but I was a child obviously.

Now I think it should not only be taught, be also compelled (not necessarily forced), along with Civics.

I have multiple AMERICAN flags up around the house. Always have, always will! I fly other flags for the appropriate reasons and in the appropriate places

It went bad
Both my sisters are very liberal
We don t bring up our jobs or politics any more
Now & then they poke me about Trump ( they hate him )
My youngest sister gave me a bottle of Wayne Gretzky Whiskey for Christmas & said "Here from the next Governor of Canada"

Not sure if I’m following the initial beef…these days, if I see an American Flag flying on your property, I’d assume that you’re most likely a conservative. Now it shouldn’t be that way, but that’s the reality. I’d say that even more than if you drive a pickup vs a Subaru.

My neighbor often flies his Army Ranger unit flag along with the American flag. (Same unit that fought in the Mogadishu "Black Hawk Down" battle. He had retired just before it.)
