That event looks like a great time with lots of amazing vehicles and people.
And almost everyone is friendly, happy to be there and happy to talk, except when things go wrong, and their mood is understandable. Most prople have come a long way for a 1-2x/year 3-4 day event, it's almost festive. Very different than the atmosphere I have experienced at the dragway.

I heard someone describe this engine as "half a V8". No idea exactly what it is but he managed 101.835 in the 1mi.

This made it about 500' down the runway and stopped, he went home. Lot of work and prep ending in disappointment. Looked like maybe it had a snowmobile engine.

This Mustang was extremely impressive. It did 204.933 in the 1.5mi on Thurs when the headwinds were 15-20mph! His 1mi was 194.502.

On Friday under better conditions he did 198.382 in the 1mi!!! Apparently he did not attempt any 1.5mi runs on Fri. I think ths car has a chance of hitting 200 in the 1mi!

I never spoke to the owner but from what I heard this was also a E85 tune. It's classification indicates "fuel" which makes me think it's E85 or better. I know it has a SC but I do not know for a fact what else. Extremely impressive numbers.

I'm not sure anyone other than Ronin is watching this thread anymore but I'll continue so long as one guy seems interested.

This is a very cool vehicle. It is a drop tank with a 260 Ford engine and 3sp manual. The husband and wife team purchased it from the owner who raced it at Bonneville long ago. The wife is the driver. This was the first time it was ready to race but when they got there the trans would only go into 3rd. She said "it likes neutral" :(

She did several runs with 3rd only, but was able to hit 138.436.

I’m a HUGE fan of LSR…it’s no joke. 1/8 and 1/4 mile drag racing @ WOT is one thing but holding it through a 1KM or 1 Mile trap or similar is a whole other story and shit gets real super fast, no pun intended.

Before I went to Bonneville for Speed Week years ago I watched The World’s Fastest Indian with Sir Anthony Hopkins. Burt Munro was quite a character, crazy Kiwi bastard!

I watch that movie about once a year whether I need to or not! Usually when the wife is out of town!

Huge differences between 1/4-1/2 vs 1 to 1.5mi. Such as:
-Lots of thing break in the extra distance.
-Weight means less and aerodynamics means more
-Stopping becomes an issue
-Many cars beat motorcycles
and most important:
-No stupid rice burners with tail trumpets beating anyone! They know not to even show up! :ROFLMAO:

Please add your thoughts to this list! :)

I'd add that LSR folk are some of the nicest people you'd ever meet. I've watched crews drop what they're doing to help out another crew, even if they're in the same class, etc. It's the LSR against the salt, tarmac, etc. not against each other if that makes sense. As racers they're competitive of course but it’s definitely different…

Why is it that the guys that prep the most for the highest speeds seemingly do nothing about ensuring that their brakes are up to par???

220+mph Mustangs on stock economy brakes going off the end of the runway and through the landing lights...:rolleyes:

And about 3 in 4 of the people that went off were motorcycles. Just not enough contact patch according to the guys I spoke to.

Nice to see this I live 40 minutes from Loring AFB and looking to go next year after my 800 whp build on my 2016 Charger HC. One of my friends Craig Dumais goes and he did just over 200 in his 2022 GT500.

No offense intended, but why would a U.S. Marine living in ME have a Canada flag?

I traverse both sides of the border. I actually work for CBP on the border and have a place in Canada and in Maine30 minutes apart... Border life 😂

The flags are solely based on where your IP is at, even when you're running under a VPN, so there are times when my flag says crazy things...

There were 2 C8's there. As great as they may be at other events, they sure fall short in the 1 and 1.5mi. I didn't get the number of the silver one so I could not look up the record, but the white C8 had a best run of 162.284 in the 1mi and 170.861 in the 1.5mi. Seems that non-blown cars don't keep up much past .5mi or so.

Makes me feel that our cars really are something special. :)

I'm starting to think HP is #1 and #2, maybe #3, then Cd is after that! :)
