I believe it was a spun dampner.
1025HP and Dodge still didn't bother to pin the crank. SMH.
Even my wussy 210 HP V6 SUV has a keyway on the crank.

I hadn't heard about that. The one I saw was a picture of a supposed burned spark plug from a 170 but I don't believe much I see these days.

That display and the dyno line are my favorites. Nice power! Bet that felt good. Glad you are having fun with it. I am enjoying the thread.

A little testing today, more to come  What I'll say is the sensor reacts MUCH faster than the inferred I'm used to. Once the fuel hit the sensor the E content rised rapidly. I'm shooting for E70 and just about nailed it.

Side question….is the 170 covered under warranty if you track the car?

Other side question---- What was the final 170 production total?

@Reillyrob the answer is "maybe". The warranty book has several stipulations but the spirit of the warranty is track use is covered.

Use the strip or track yourself. You never “race”. That means no contests, no official posting of times etc. No “hot laps” for some of us either. You can like test and tune and certainly share your times etc with your friends. But never race.

For example before any HPDE lapping event the Safety Briefing should state several times, “this is NOT a race”. That works well if something happens to your car at those brutal events. Oh and video supporting your contention don’t hurt.

Here are some pics from the 170 spark plug failure. Dealer told the customer that there were no replacement parts available at this time and they couldn't give him a date when they would be available. Customer decided to fix it himself. Not sure what the hole story is but here are some pics.

So the customer ripped apart and paid for parts for a car under 5 years warranty lol ok. On the other hand, I’m glad he chose the easiest way to change the plugs (dropping the engine)

Must be a YouTuber or something I can’t see anyone doing that to a 170 makes zero sense

Makes plenty of sense:
option 1: dealer says, there's no available parts... meaning if left to the dealer it would likely sit out in their unsecured lot for /months/ waiting...
option 2: source the parts yourself and have it back on the road in a week or two, with it always parked securely and under your control.

He is not a youtuber and he has internal engine damage that's why he pulled the engine.

I guess, $125k car under warranty- I guess if i was rich I’d pull it apart. Not sure what they’ll say about future issues when it comes to warranty. Car didn’t have to sit there while waiting for parts/time

They replace the engine for internal engine damage, typically. They rarely open things up besides to confirm damage

Option 2: He also retains his numbers matching block which helps the value of his car; which he would not have if the engine was replaced under warranty. I believe this is a VIN matched 170 to his 2018; which he still owns.
