Friend is starting a new class for STREET CARS

End of the day if mine or @Hatermkr engines were in cars that weighs 1500 pounds less we’d be much much faster. So we just have to make more power I guess!
Just because a car is much lighter then ours doesn’t automatically make it a race. For me I can put a car seat in the back and a stroller in the trunk. No question on my car being a street car.
End of the day this is supposed to be for street cars. But I will say anytime you follow a national event the competition will be tough. But this is for fun. Reaper put it in his video that this is for fun and that’s the point. If it’s not for fun the cars go down the rabbit hole to go faster and spend more money then most can spend.
If I remember right he’s looking for like 30 to 50 cars a race.

It would be helpful to know the draft rules. it is very difficult to have a constructive discussion without knowing the rules. Isn't racing a recreation sport for most?

Once race shops get involved, it becomes a game of money. They want to win because it usually creates more business/customers. In addition, some racers are very competitive and will spend a ton of money to grab a $ 40.00 trophy.

I see where you’re going. I’d say they have to drive it 20+ miles to the track, or 20+ miles that day. A lot of competitions have that requirement for street car class

ok, then everyone can compete against Tom Bailey and his 5 second quarter mile street car. Just look at the cars participating in Sick Week, since they are driven on the street they are all "street cars". If your car does not run low 4's in the 1/8 stay home.

There's a shit load of pro mod level cars running drag and drives.
Just look at everything they have to do to convert them back and forth from the street to the track.

Exactly my point, 8 second "street car" is slow and is not competitive. There are Nisan GTR's with powerglides running mid to high 6's. Look at Roadkill, who wins? No Mopars come close to winning there was a separate class for mopars because of this (in part), not anymore.

The same thing is happening in Street Car Takeover, gotta be in the 7's to be competitive. There used to be a heavy weight class that Phasthemi won with his hellcat. Not sure the class still exists.

When you wander outside of the Mopar umbrella the world of drag racing changes.

You can usually qualify but you'll get treed sooner or later if you go rounds. You live on others mistakes.

In my opinion, a transmission switch with 2 step and transbrake is needed. Then you get into the drivetrain. After that it's the iats.

Last year's world street 10.50 was 10.005 to a 10.10xx for a 16 car field. Reaction times were .008 - .003. Sorry, stock hellcat setup can't consistently touch this. The MSHS 10.5 champ was out 1st round with a. 007-8? reaction time and a 10.54? et.
